Christ Church CE Primary School
'Let your light shine' Matthew 5:16
As you may be aware from our Schoolping last week and a letter from our CEO that the NEU teaching union have declared strike action, which will take place on:
The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government regarding pay, conditions and funding and not because of any issues at our school.
We are sorry to inform you that Christ Church Primary School will be closed on Wednesday 1st February, and this may be the case on Thursday 2nd March, Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March. We are asking you not to send your child into school on these days.
We have not taken this decision lightly. We remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and feel that we would be unable to provide this with the staff we have available.
We are able to partially open to vulnerable children and families where both parents are critical workers, e.g. health, social care and education and working on this day, however the number of children we will be able to accommodate will be capped to ensure Health and Safety requirements are able to be met. If you believe that your child will meet the criteria for a place please complete the form given out to children this week, and return by Monday 30th January at 9am.
If your child is in receipt of Pupil Premium or Universal Free School Meals, you are welcome to collect a packed lunch on Wednesday 1st February between 10:30am and 12:00pm. You can book this by ticking the relevant box on the form given to your child and returning it by Monday morning.
If your child doesn’t require a dinner, please do not forget to remove their booking off of Aspens Select or you will still be charged.
We are sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child at short notice, and that they will experience disruption to their education. We understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and will inform you as soon as possible if arrangements change further.
