EAL Provision at Christchurch Primary School

At Christchurch Primary School, we celebrate the rich diversity of our community and value the unique cultural and linguistic backgrounds of all our pupils. Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision is designed to ensure that every child who speaks another language at home feels supported, included, and empowered to thrive in both their learning and social development.

We provide tailored support to help pupils develop confidence and proficiency in English while maintaining pride in their home language. Through high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and a welcoming environment, we aim to enable all EAL learners to access the full curriculum and achieve their highest potential.

Our approach focuses on:

  • Inclusive Classroom Practice – Teachers use strategies that promote language development across all subjects.
  • Individualised Support – Additional sessions for pupils who need extra help with vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills.
  • Cultural Celebration – Opportunities to share languages and traditions, fostering respect and understanding within our school community.

We work closely with families to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing progress for every child. At Christchurch Primary School, language is never a barrier to success—it is a bridge to new opportunities.
